Georgia Color Plein Air* presented by Olmsted Arts, celebrates the tradition of outdoor painting with 40 of the finest outdoor painters in Georgia. 40 artists will put brush to canvas, capturing the autumn light over the waters and fields of Georgia’s Historic Heartland region. The Georgia Color Artists will bring a fresh eye to the changing lights and colors, and a variety of styles that draw from the rich traditions of plein air painting.

A juried event, Artists are competing for a purse. Fresh works will be available for purchase each day . Featured Artists will hold back two paintings for at the Awards Event on Saturday evening where a panel of Judges will award prizes. Awards Event attendees will have the first opportunity to purchase paintings before the public exhibition on Sunday.

All artwork will be exhibited by the Steffen Thomas Museum of Art in Buckhead, GA (10 minutes southeast of Madison, GA).

*En plein air is a French expression that means “in the open air.” It is used by artists to describe the art of outdoor painting, capturing landscapes and views in natural light. This kind of art has been a popular practice for centuries and requires specific skills and techniques.
