Chesapeake Bay, Maryland
Contemporary Landscape Artist, Jill Basham, was born in Washington DC and raised in Columbia, MD. Basham is an award winning landscape oil painter. Most recently accepted as an Artist Member of The Salmagundi Club in NYC, as well as winning Third for the national plein air competition, Plein Air Easton! 2012 (Juror: Don Demers, Judge: Tim Newton). Her work hangs internationally, including the US Embassy in Sri Lanka, per a request by The US State Departments Art in Embassies Program. Basham was past Vice President of The Working Artists Forum and is a member of AIS, OPA, AWA and MAPAPA. Basham comes from a family with a multi-generational history of artists. She grew up with an interest in art, yet it was not until later in adulthood that she began oil painting. Once she began, she never looked back. Known for her atmospheric landscapes, she paints in plein air (on location), but also works in her studio. Basham now resides near the Chesapeake Bay on the Eastern Shore of Maryland..
Jill was most recently recognized by the National Oil and Acrylic Painters: Awarded 'Best Landscape", Spring 2014 Online Exhibition 2014 for "Winter in the Country".
