Lisa Mitchell is an award winning Maryland artist who works in both oil and pastel. She participated in the 2016 New York Botanical Gardens Invitational and the Publisher’s Invitational in Adirondack National Park. In 2015 she was awarded the Critics Choice Award, Valley Planning Council, in the Art for Land’s Sake Exhibition and again participated in the Publisher’s Invitational in Adirondack National Park. She has been juried into significant plein air competitions, including Plein Air Easton, Paint Annapolis, Plein Air Curacao, Paint Norfolk, Easels in Frederick, Wayne Plein Air and Plein Air Richmond.
Ms. Mitchell offers ongoing pastel and oil painting instruction and both attends and presents many workshops. She is the instructor for weekly outdoor classroom sessions. Ms. Mitchell is represented by three Maryland galleries.
Ms. Mitchell is a member of Oil Painters of America; the Washington Society of Landscape Painters; Past President and Signature member of the Maryland Pastel Society; Signature member of the Maryland Society of Portrait Painters; and a member the Mid-Atlantic Plein Air Painters Association.
Pastel Journal ran a feature in 2011 entitled “A Tale of Two Studios” with an image of Ms. Mitchell’s Pastel 100 and her Honorable Mention Award.
